The Assignment Report (25%)

The Deadline for the Report is:
5pm Friday April 26

  • A hard (ie paper) copy of the report is required to be submitted to the instructor by the deadline
  • The report should be

(excluding any figures, illustrations & tables)
with a text/font size of at least 12pt.
    • Up to 10 supplemental pages containing figures and tables may be included. These may be embedded in the text as long as the above limits are not exceeded.
  • The report may make use of other media (eg. mpegs on the WWW), but should not rely on such media to be considered "self-contained".
    • Students who wish to include such movies/links/references should consult with the instructor how best to do this.
  • Hand-written reports are acceptable (as long as they are legible), but
    • typed or word-processed reports are strongly encouraged
(including HTML etc - as long as a hard copy is also provided).

Grading:

  • The report will be judged solely on scientific content, and the clarity with which the ideas & arguments are made. Neither the length of the report, nor how sophisticated-a-manner it's presented will count towards the final grade
    • concentrate on the contents: not a flashy presentation !
  • The contents of the report will count for the vast majority of the 25% of the grade given to this activity unless it is clear from the face-to-face and/or presentation that the student does not actually know/understand the contents of the report submitted.

Note: It is possible that some student's reports will also be made available to the rest of the class at some time. (This will be at the discretion of the instructor, and will be based on whether a given report will add to the knowledge of the other students, or risks confusing them...)
