list of topics
to be selected from will be drawn from material already
(or very soon to be) covered in class, or
perhaps even a subject not covered in any detail in the course.
The
list
of topics will not be
publicised prior to the "day of selection".

The "day of selection" will be:

On this "day of selection",
the specific assignment for each
student will either be determined randomly during class, or (if numbers
allow) may be selected by the students themselves.
- Students not present on the "day of selection" will be assigned a project
at random, or at the discression of the instructor.
Any (small) differences in the relative difficulties/complexities
of the various assignments will be taken into account by the instructor
during grading.
