Summary:
Each student will be given an assignment from a list of topics already (or very soon to be) covered in class - or perhaps even a subject not covered in any detail in the course.

  • This topic will either be randomly-selected (during class), or (if there are few students) selected by the student her/himself.
Each student will be required to research their assignment, and write a short report. Students will have approximately 5 weeks to write the report.

The report will be discussed one-on-one with instructor.

In addition, each student will be required to make a short presentation (lasting approx 5 or 10 mins) to the rest of the class. (It is possible that the report will also be made available to the rest of the class prior to the discussion.)
In total this report will account for 25% of a student's final grade 20% of the grade will be based on the submitted report (after the face-to-face: see below), and 5% will be based on the presentation (see below).
