Other Hydrogen Series Lines
The Hydrogen Lyman Series
(sometimes referred to as the K series) are transitions
between the n = 1 shell
(ie. the K-shell) and the
n > 1 shells.
The Balmer series
(sometimes referred to as the L series) are transitions
between the n = 2 shell
(ie. the L-shell) and the
n > 2 shells. There are several
line components associated with permitted
transitions, and are sometimes distinguished
based upon the lower configuration
as follows:
