News

2003 Feb

  • Blustin et al preprint (astro-ph/0302551) reporting XMM results from NGC 7469 (and comparison with non-simultaneous FUSE)
  • Steenbrugge et al preprint (astro-ph/0302493) reporting XMM/RGS results from NGC 5548 (see also Pounds et al preprint astro-ph/0210288).
  • Porquet et al preprint (astro-ph/0302413) reporting XMM results from ESO 198-G24: a lack of a strong absorption lines.
  • Shih et al preprint (astro-ph/0302108) reporting detection of variable, multi-zone warm absorber in ASCA results from the low-luminosity AGN NGC 4395

    2002 Nov

  • Brinkman et al preprint (astro-ph/0302413) reporting XMM results from ESO 198-G24:

    2002 Oct

  • Pounds et al preprint (astro-ph/0210288) reporting results from a simultaneous BeppoSAX and XMM observation of NGC 5548. Limited discussion of the XMM/RGS & hence ionized gas since this appears in Steenbrugge et al preprint (astro-ph/0302493).
  • Behar & Kahn preprint (astro-ph/0210280) containing a great summary of the need for lab measurements of data for inner-shell transistions relevant to PIG.

    2002 Sep

  • Gabel et al preprint (astro-ph/0209484) reporting The Ionized Gas and Nuclear Environment in NGC 3783 II. Averaged HST/STIS and FUSE Spectra
  • Mason et al preprint (astro-ph/0209145) posing the question we all want answered The X-ray spectrum of the Seyfert I galaxy Mrk 766: Dusty Warm Absorber or Relativistic Emission Lines?. This one from the XMM/RGS team, and "confirms" their earlier suggestions that relativistic lines provide a better fit to the RGS than a dusty absorber.

    2002 Aug

  • Couple of preprints on Mrk 509 (astro-ph/0208530: [Yaqoob et al ] & astro-ph/0208478: [Kraemer et al ] discussing The Kinematics and Physical Conditions of the Ionized Gas in Markarian 509 (CXO/HETGS & HST/STIS data respectively). One zone model fits the X-ray, but 8 kinematic components seen in the UV; none of the UV absorbers can produce the X-ray absorption.
  • Preprint of a nice review by Brandt & Kaspi (astro-ph/0208248) entitled Grating X-ray Spectroscopy of High-Velocity Outflows from Active Galaxies

    2002 Jul

  • Chartas et al preprint (astro-ph/0207196) reporting Relativistic Broad Absorption Lines from APM 08279+5255 (a BALQSO).
